Making really good looking saws seems to be something that has gradually fallen out of fashion with saw manufacturers. Back in the good old days saws were a real work of art, which could be proudly displayed in the workshop as a fine looking piece of craftsmanship.
But over the decades the ornate handles seem to have been given less and less attention to their design and are now rather dull looking squared off featureless lumps of wood, or even plastic.
The modern saw handle is often uncomfortable to the hand, and also not in the optimum position for the cut.
Sadly the modern hardened steel, throw away saw has somewhat taken over in our hardware stores. A lot of people don’t even know that they can easily sharpen and reset their old saws.
In this video Paul shows how to improve your saw handle and also how to fashion it into something special.
